We’re delighted to have partnered with Pearson Engineering to pilot our schools enterprise programme with Year 4 pupils for the very first time.
Despite the summer heatwave, the pupils at Atkinson Road Primary School showed incredible enthusiasm, creativity and determination as they developed their own business ideas and prepared to pitch them to a panel of judges from Pearson Engineering.
Working in teams, the children created innovative business concepts, thought about their customers, considered costs and pricing, and practised presenting their ideas with confidence. The programme encourages pupils to develop key skills including teamwork, communication, problem-solving and creativity, while introducing them to the exciting world of enterprise.
The highlight of the day was the Dragon’s Den-style pitching session, where volunteers from Pearson Engineering listened carefully to each presentation before asking some impressively challenging questions about the children’s businesses. The pupils rose brilliantly to the challenge, confidently explaining their ideas, defending their decisions and demonstrating just how much they had learned throughout the programme.
