What’s Up?
ON THE UP exists to help improve people’s lives and the lives of their families in the North East. Previously known as Upstart Enterprise CIC, we were founded in 2019 by leading marketer and proud Geordie, Vicki Stone.
We bring hope, positivity and practical help to encourage individuals be the best that they can be. Inspiring NEntrpreneurs to overcome any barriers they may face, rise up and turn their ideas into thriving businesses.
We empower people, harness their potential and give them the right skills to succeed. All through the power of community.
And, above all, we make sure they NEVER GIVE UP on their hopes and dreams.
How we’re funded
Our funding comes from a mix of charitable grants, trusts, and income generated through the school-based programmes we deliver. These programmes are supported by larger organisations across the North East. You can find further information in our Public Ethics and Funding Statement.

Vicki has been up and at ‘em since day one. An award-winning marketer with a passion for making things happen. Business, social enterprise, fundraising, marketing, she is an unstoppable force that refuses to let dreams and potential die.
Diane Smith, Director
Diane is a former On the Up service user whom we supported in launching her own social enterprise. Deeply rooted in the Kenton community where she lives and works, Diane brings lived experience, insight, and genuine commitment to everything she does. She is a valued and influential member of our board, and a real asset to On the Up.
