We had the pleasure of celebrating International Women’s Day at a special Newcastle City Council event, held in the Banqueting Suite at the Civic Centre on Friday, 7th March. Our very own Vicki was thrilled to be recognised for her incredible contributions to the women of our city, alongside 99 other inspiring women, all published in the event’s booklet. The event was truly memorable, hosted by the wonderful Charlie Charlton, and included networking, delicious mocktails, and cake. A heartfelt thank you for the invitation – Vicki was immensely proud to be honoured at such a prestigious occasion.

Here’s the nomination:

“In September 2023, Vicki’s organisation was relaunched from Upstart Enterprise to On the Up, and it has since flourished, growing stronger with each passing day. Through her leadership, Vicki has helped countless women find meaningful employment, resolve family issues, and access much-needed support. Her unwavering commitment extends beyond just providing resources — Vicki’s weekly wellbeing crafty groups offer a safe space where women can gather, share experiences, and find solace over a cup of tea. These groups have become a lifeline for many.

Vicki is truly making a difference in the lives of those who often have no other means of support. Her work has inspired a community of women who are, quite literally, “on the up.”

I am so incredibly proud of everything Vicki has achieved and the positive impact she continues to make. She embodies the spirit of resilience and kindness, and her efforts deserve to be recognised.”
